Partying Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

When the Roots’ ?uestlove and Black Thought made the decision in 2008 to become the house band for ‘Late Night’ with Jimmy Fallon, they were met with stark criticism. However, fast forward 4 years later and this happens to be the best decision made by both parties. The Roots are making great money with out having to tour and ‘Late Night’ is seeing great TV ratings, especially among the younger crowd as compared to other late night talk shows. Why, you ask??

It’s their ability to bring in great musical talent and provide quality live entertainment from beginning to end. Back in 2008, OC Weekly attributed this to:

“[The Roots’] thick Rolodex, after all, is what ensures they get such quality acts with such consistency.”

A recent article by HipHopDX‘s blogger, Omar Burgess claims that:

“[Fallon] has two very clear advantages. Aside from The Roots, he also employs former Billboard editor Jonathan Cohen as the showā€™s music booker.”

Whether its a combination of both, ‘Late Night’ has brought in great hip-hop & R’nB acts ranging from Big K.R.I.T., Santigold, Future, John Legend, Ne-Yo, Young Jeezy, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Wale, J. Cole, Miguel, Common, Robin Thicke, Gym Class Heroes, Odd Future, Lauryn Hill and the list goes on and on and on…..
